  • DON'T pay somebody else to renegotiate your debts.
  • Things to do now:-
    • List all money coming in and check benefit entitlement
    • Ask yourself if everyone in the family is contributing as far as they can.
    • Priority Expenditure: List your most important outgoings such as
      • Rent/Mortgage
      • Loans Secured on the house
      • Council Tax
      • Food & Housekeeping
      • Insurance
      • Electricity
      • Gas
      • Telephone
      • TV Licence
      • Travel to work
      • Prescriptions
      • Clothing
      • Other Small Items
    • All of these are the things that you should pay FIRST
    • Add these up and look at them carefully to see if there is any way that you can make a saving. Be realistic! but Try!
    • Your main priority is to make sure that your basic expenditure is less than your income.
    • Do you have any money left to pay your creditors?
    • List all of your debts, including those that you are up to date with and including that overdraft.
    • Be honest with yourself!
    • You may owe £500 or £50,000 the basic principle is the same.
    • Now share any money that you have left after paying for your Priority items.
    • Do your best to ensure that every creditor has a fair share.
    • The creditor that you owe the most to should have the biggest share of the money that you have left.
    • Write to every Creditor making realistic offers of payment that you can stick to.
    • The Creditor that shouts the loudest is not always the most important
    • Don't let a nasty creditor get more than their fair share - it only encourages them to pester you even more
